DIY Horse-themed Party Invitations:

Another one of my hobbies is that I LOVE planning parties!

My daughter's birthday is coming up, and she requested a horse themed party!

I started browsing the Internet to come up with the design and wording I wanted.  I then put my own spin on it by adding wood and burlap, and came up with this...

I used ipiccy.com to make the invitation.  I'm sure there are better programs out there for this sort of thing, but I use ipiccy.com to edit my pictures, so I was already familiar with this program.

I then printed them out, cut them out onto card stock...

After building the mini pallets, I just stapled the burlap and invitation to the wood.

These invitations cost me a total of $0.00

I don't like to spend a ton of money on parties, so I always try to use what I have on hand, and DIY on most everything!

Claw & Ball Chair:

I bought this chair at a garage sale, and because I already have too many projects I'm working on, I was just going to re-sell this as is.

I had this lady very interested in the feet on this chair.  She had me send her about a dozen different photos of JUST the claw and ball feet.  She even had me measure the ball.

To be perfectly honest, I never even noticed the claw and ball feet until she mentioned it.
Fortunately for ME, she ended up NOT purchasing the chair.

So I thought it would be so cool to really bring out the ball that's clinched between the claws!

I had the wood left over from the iron park bench, and so I used that for the base of the chair.

I used my nail gun to adhere the slats to the base...

I had this decorative piece laying around that I bought from Lowes.
I thought it would give it a nice added touch...

...and after sanding the entire piece down, adding stain, and watered down paint...HERE IT IS!!!

You can see the small little holes in this picture.
I'm thinking at one time this chair was upholstered.

Check out the detail on these feet!!!

Thanks so much for looking!!!

Alice In Wonderland inspired "chair"

So for the next couple of months you will start seeing me post more craft type projects, or up cycled pieces, painted furniture, etc.

I'm doing my FIRST Craft Fair this Fall, and so my main focus right now is to work on things I'll be selling at my booth!

Here is one of those pieces...

First of all, let me say...

I have never seen the movie, Alice In Wonderland.  I do however, remember there being a BIG clock, possibly a rabbit??...and something to do with tea?
Am I close?  ha ha

I knew I wanted to paint this chair red.  I spray painted it black first, so that when I distressed the chair, the black would show through.

Do you notice the missing spindle?

I got the idea to just replace the spindle with a stair spindle I had on hand.
By doing this, it needed to be a funky looking chair, since it would have looked odd with 1 different looking spindle.  So at that point, funky was the theme.

I was looking around, and noticed a clock I had just bought that morning at a garage sale.  That's when Alice In Wonderland popped in my head!

Don't worry, I didn't take a perfectly good clock apart!  You can't tell from this picture, but the outer part was broken, and I bought this for a dollar!

The white part was actually paper, so it was easy for me to glue down to the chair.  I covered it with mod podge, but I'm going to also seal it down with some polycrylic.

I added an old fork and spoon to the top to go with the theme, but I'm actually thinking about changing that out to something else...

...and here it is!!!

I have quite a few other pieces I worked on this past weekend while I was at a Girls Retreat, so I'll be posting about those soon!

If you haven't already, I would LOVE for you to LIKE my Facebook page!

Thanks so much!
