Up-cycled End Tables to a Coffee Table:

A little while back I came across these 2 end tables...

I just LOVE the bottoms on these tables!

Problem was, they were a bit too short for end tables.  I like my end table to be higher up, closer to the arm rest of my couch.  These were only about 16" tall.

I let them sit in my Living Room for a few days while I thought about how I was going to make them work.
Actually, what gave me the idea to turn them into a coffee table, was that my kids put them side by side one day while they were doing their chores.

So on the weekend I went to a Scrap-booking Retreat, (I "craft" rather than scrapbook) I brought these 2 tables along to work on.

I started off by gluing down some wooden slats with this design.  Then I went over it with my nail gun, and also added screws to make sure it was fully secure.  I would later apply wood putty to cover the screw holes.

To make it even more sturdy, I flipped it, and did the same thing to the backside...

While I had it flipped, I went ahead and stained that side first.

I then stained the top side, and also added some sealant.

I love the imperfections in the wood...

 And here it is now...

My couch is like a boxed in square, and so it worked out perfectly that the table is narrow enough to walk in between it and the couch.

Check out this table over at Pottery Barn right now for $699...

Very similar design on the bottom.
I'd say my new coffee table fits right 'in style' right now.

Up cycled Chair into a Standing Planter:

About a year ago (Summer of 2012 to be exact) we were visiting my brother in Florida.  While we were there, we walked up and down this strip of antique shops.  It was there, that I first came across this idea to up cycle an old chair into a standing planter...

I also came across this chair with this fabric that I absolutely LOVE!
Since I can't seem to find this fabric anywhere, a picture of it with my little guy will have to do.  hee hee
I actually prefer it that way anyways. =)

Sooo...fast-forward to a year later!!!...
A friend of mine was asking if I knew how to turn a chair into a plant stand.
I told her about the picture I took of one about a year ago that I've been wanting to do!
She had a few chairs without seats, and was sooo nice enough to sell me one for what it cost her!

Here it is...

BEFORE:

AFTER:

 VERY easy to make!

I simply just spray painted the entire chair, distressed it a bit with my sander, and nailed the basket down with my nail gun.
Easy peasy!

 Instant Fall decoration!

Thanks so much for looking!

UPCYCLED Iron Park Bench (back)

I bought 2 disassembled cast iron park benches from a friend of mine.  I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with them.  I didn't think I was going to reassemble them, and just refurbish.  I kind of bought them for the sole purpose of upcycling them.
I had no plans on working on them any time soon, but while I was carrying them inside the house to the backyard, I passed by my fireplace and thought,
"Hmmm...I wander?"
So I lifted the back piece to the bench onto my mantel, took a step back, and thought, "Yes!  That's it!"
So I stopped everything I was doing, went and grabbed my supplies, and back to the front yard I went!
So these were the pieces I bought...
I LOVE them as individual pieces!  I plan on reusing every part of it, but in different ways other than a park bench.

And now...

Thanks for looking!

Hope y'all have a blessed week!

UPCYCLED Soda Crate:

Yesterday I stopped at a Garage Sale on my way home...

Check out all of my Vintage finds!!!

You may have seen this picture I posted on my Facebook page!

I just LOVE everything, but I already have a trunk,...don't really need another one. So I'm actually going to re-sell that one to make a profit.
This is usually how I do things.  I'll buy things that I know I can make some money off of, to afford the things that I want to keep.
"Okay, that was WAY too many things!"
ha ha

For example, this is what I spent:

Vintage Trunk: $25.00
Pepsi Crate: $5.00
Stool: $1.00
Frames: $1.00 each
...and I bought a set of dishes for $3.00

So I spent about $40.00

The only Keepers are going to be the Crate and the dishes!

I just sold the Trunk for $60.00, giving me a profit of $35.00
So that already nearly paid for the money I spent!!!

The frames are going to be up-cycled into something else, probably a Chalkboard Frame, which I will probably then sell for $20 each.
The stool will probably re-sell for $15.00

So in the end, I will be making quite a bit of profit, AND the best part of it, I got what I REALLY wanted for FREE!!!

Now...for the FUN stuff!!!

Check out my Pepsi Crate!!!

"Cute, Cute, Cuuttteee, right?!"

Thanks for looking! =)

Stick around, you can follow me on my Facebook page!

Up-cycled Antique Sewing Table:

I have a friend who has a garage full of all kinds of neat stuff!  She lets me come "shop" inside her garage every time I have a little bit of extra money.
"How fun is that, right?!"

So on my 1st shopping trip, I brought home this Antique Singer Sewing Table.

I wasn't really quite sure what I wanted to do with it, so it kind of sat in the room for about a month.

One day I got the idea to make a wooden top for it out of my pallet wood.

I started taking apart the whole thing piece by piece.  It was relatively pretty easy, everything was just screwed together.

So the first thing I did was take the base outside to spray paint it!

Before:

After:

I took some sand paper and gave it a bit of a distressed look...

I arranged the pallet wood on top of the original table top base.
I used a nail gun to nail it all down.

After staining, and painting the original table top base, here it is...

Isn't it a neat, unique piece?

I actually bought it to refurbish, and to re-sell, but I'm kind of attached to it.
It makes the perfect little Entryway table, because I can store my keys in the little pull-out departments.

I'm actually going to up-cycle the 2 little drawers as well!

Thanks for stopping by!

Up cycled Floor Lamp Base:

I have 2 floor lamp bases that I'm going to be up cycling!
Today's post is to show you how I re purposed one of those into an
Outdoor Planter.

So here's the base that I had...

It was pretty easy to take out all of the wiring on this particular base.
I just unscrewed parts of the pole to pull out the cord.  Easy peasy!

I used a metal basket for the top...

...wire & wire cutters..

I just wrapped the wire all around the pole & basket until it was sturdy!

To make it a little more pretty, I wrapped it with electrical tape.

...added some decorative moss...

...and TADA!!!

Maybe there would have been an easier, more professional way to adhere the basket to the pole, but this worked for ME! =)

And here it is...

an Outdoor Planter!!!

What do you think?

Easy, right?!

I'm actually looking for an oval mirror to hang from my other lamp base.
A friend of mine showed me a picture of a re purposed lamp base turned into a standing mirror!  It was gorgeous!
So as soon as I come across the perfect mirror, I'll give you all the details on that one!
