DIY Peacock Costume:

This year my daughter is going to be a Peacock for Halloween!  I came across this idea on Pinterest, fell in love, got the approval from my daughter, and off to Hobby Lobby I went to buy supplies!

I didn't take pictures during the process of me making the tutu.  I kind of just went off the picture I found on pinterest, so I don't have any precise instructions anyways. =)
Here's the link to what I went off of for my Tutu.

I bought a yard each of brown, tan, royal blue, aqua blue, light blue, and lime green tulle.  And I bought the smallest amount of felt fabric I could (I think they can only cut as small as 1/4 of a yard) in brown, green, light blue, and dark blue.

I don't remember where I read how to make the actual tutu, I think I just had that information stored in the back of my head.  ha ha  BUT...I found this tutorial online, and this is exactly how I attached my tulle to the elastic.

I bought the shirt and footless leggings from Target.

Hope that helps. =)

Okay, now to the FUN stuff...PICTURES!!!

Here's a close-up of the hair:

Thanks for looking! =)

Pumpkins!!!

Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Pumpkins!!!

Do you have your Fall decorations out yet?
I've had mine out for a little while now, but finally got a chance to go around and take pictures! =)

I have bit of an obsession with pumpkins, and most of my family and friends know this.  So a lot of my decorations that I'm about to show you have been gifted to me.
I used to have a ton more, but over the year's, and 4 kid's later, some never made it. =(

Welcome to my Home!!!

On the front door...
You can read more about my Pumpkin Wreath here.

On the coffee table in the Living Room, I bought these pumpkin posts from a Craft Fair a few years ago.  Behind them, some seasonal flowers I picked up from the grocery store.

On the end table, I have 2 pumpkin candles...

On the Mantle, I have a block that my friend made me...the clip is supposed to hold a picture, but I hate to cover up the pumpkins. =)

On top of the Armoire, I have my glossy pumpkins next to my glossy scentsy candle...

In the foyer...

In the Study...

Moving out into the Dining Room, I have a simple little arrangement on the table.  Although, this will probably change a few times throughout the month of October and November, especially when we get closer to Thanksgiving.
You can read all about my mod podge pumpkins here.

In the Kitchen, sitting on the window shelving...

You can read all about my Yarn Pumpkins here.

Thanks for looking!
I do plan on adding a few more pumpkin projects the closer we get to Thanksgiving, by using real pumpkins and floral.
I'll update you with all that next month! =)

What have y'all done around your house?
I would love to see pictures! =)

Have a blessed week!

Everything CRAFT!!!

It wasn't until recently that I FINALLY realized that I have SUCH a passion for crafting, decorating, diy'ing, etc.  Sure, I think I've always enjoyed those things, but I've always been a bit scared to try new things, and didn't really know what my "style" was.

So this post is of everything that I've done in the past ((or that I have pictures of)) that led me to where I am today.  Today, I'm not so scared to try new things ((like using a hammer or a power drill)), I'm not so scared to be a little "different" ((like my color scheme in my house being aqua, yellow, and grays!))  Sure, it may not be every one's taste, but it's what makes ME happy! =)

My Dad has been hard at work, and here is what it's looking like right now...

Excuse the mess...obviously we still have wood and supplies laying around. =)

This week I'll be doing a...well, lets just call it a "Fall Cleaning" of my entire house!
I'm participating in my Sister's neighborhood garage sale this Saturday, so I'll be getting ready for that!  What do y'all have planned this week?

~ DIY Cake Stand ~

It all started a while back when I painted and distressed my candle stick holders...you can read ALL about that HERE.

Before and After:

I had a total of 7 candle holders, and only 6 looked great arranged on top of my fireplace mantle...

...which left me 1 lonely little candle holder...

That's when a "cupcake stand" came to mind!

Supplies Needed:

After cutting out a circle to fit the metal plate, I used mod podge to seal it...

I painted around the sides, and then sanded it a bit once dry!  Since the candle holder was already a distressed/antique look, I wanted the plate to have that look as well...

...made a lace bow for the bottom of the candle holder...

And there you have a Cupcake Stand!!!

I have a friend who is the owner at Betnie Bakes who makes gorgeous fondant cakes, and the yummiest cupcakes!  Mmmm...
You can check her out at:  http://www.betniebakes.com

So of course, me making a cake stand gave me an excuse to order some cupcakes!
Tee Hee  At least that's what I told my husband.  ha ha

Is your mouth watering yet?

This would be a simple, quick project for y'all to make for just a few bucks!
Keep your eye out for some candle holders at garage sales or goodwill's, there's so many things you can re-create with them.
I hope you loved the "Cake Stand" as much as I do!
Be sure to Like me on Facebook!
And I love comments and pins! =)

Y'all have a blessed weekend!
